Historic and modern Architecture...

...merge to form the new Günnewig Hotel Stadtpalais. The ensemble of the various individual tradition-steeped buildings, consisting of the “Kaiser-Wilhelm-Bad” (Emperor Wilhelm’s spa, listed for monument protection) as well as the former library and the town villa, are undergoing extensive renovation and a new hotel construction with state-of-the-art appointments and facilities is being added.

Numerous classical elements, such as for example the distinctive roof landscape, wrought-iron railings and latticework, natural stone and the relief with mosaic done by Ernst Wille, blend harmoniously with the contemporary and comfortable ambience of a first-class hotel.

The hotel also offers another special attraction. "Bio's Bar" was inspired by Alfred Biolek, the grand seigneur of German television entertainment, and the ambience was designed in a style fully consistent with this famous namesake and enlivened and enhanced with personal items from his long television career (see Culinary for more details).

The house is located directly opposite the LANXESS arena (formerly the Kölnarena), near the trade fair grounds and the Köln-Deutz (Cologne-Deutz) train station and it is therefore quick and easy to access, as is also the inner city of Cologne. In addition to the building’s outstanding architecture and the high level of comfort, the guests can also enjoy the individual, friendly and attentive atmosphere of a Günnewig hotel.
